About

Judy Lange

“Art is who I am, who I was and who I will be.”

My art journey began with a pencil sketch at 2-1/2 years old. I loved crayons and coloring books, doodling to pass the time and taking photographs when film was the only choice. After high school I wanted to study at the Art Institute of Chicago, but my parents insisted I study business and pursue a “real job”. And I did.

Through the years I explored all types of art, from pencil drawing to pen & ink sketching, from oils to watercolor to acrylic painting, from mono printing to collage, pottery, and of course, photography.

As a photographer I capture “a moment in time”, real life ~ as it is ~ when the shutter closes….

A cloud in the sky, a spring time flower, a piece of history.

As a mixed media artist I work from my intuition. I create abstract works. There’s no plan. It just happens; sometimes quickly, more often slowly and tentatively.

I develop the piece through colors, layers, texture, structure, and harmony until my intuition says “you’re done”.

I continue my art journey most days with a sketch, a monoprint, a painting, a collage or a photograph.
